Pierre Lortie, M.C., FCAE, Executive Chairman of the Board
Pierre Lortie is a Senior Business Advisor at Denton. He is a Director of Element Financial Corporation, Group Canam Inc., and Lamêlée Iron Ore Ltd. Mr. Lortie served as President and COO of Bombardier Transportation, President and COO of Bombardier Capital, President and COO of Bombardier International, and President of Bombardier Aerospace, Regional Aircraft. He was Chairman, President and CEO of Provigo Inc., President and CEO of the Montreal Stock Exchange and a Senior Partner of Secor Inc. Mr. Lortie received an M.B.A. with honours from the University of Chicago, a license in applied economics from the Université Louvain in Belgium, and a Bachelor's degree in applied sciences (engineering physics) from Université Laval, Canada. He was awarded a Doctorate Honoris Causa in civil law from Bishop’s University. He was elected Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 1988 and he was appointed Member of the Order of Canada in 2001.
Mackenzie I. Watson, Honorary Chairman
Mackenzie I. Watson has over 45 years of exploration experience and has been involved in the discovery of numerous mineral deposits throughout in Canada. He was awarded Canada's Prospector of the Year Award in 1991 and 2009 and the Québec Prospector of the Year Award in 1992 for his participation in the discovery of numerous mineral deposits. His discoveries include the Icon Sullivan copper mine, the Ellison gold deposit, the Hébercourt copper deposit and the Pusticamica and Verneuil gold deposits in Québec. His team also discovered the Harker Holloway gold mine and recently, the Black Thor chromite deposit in Ontario.
Dirk Naumann, Ph.D., President
Dr. Naumann is a Senior Business Leader with a track record of bringing new technologies and products to the international market. He has his Doctorate in Physical Chemistry with an emphasis in thermodynamics and chemical engineering. During Dr. Naumann’s 30 year career, he has actively been involved in designing new products and processes by managing capital projects from inception, through engineering and construction, to successful market launch. Dr. Naumann has worked for Bayer AG, Inco Ltd. and other resource companies internationally, with a focus on metal extraction and refining, high purity metals, and materials and compounds for specialty applications. More recently, he was an advisor to European and American companies on Process Intensification to improve their efficiency and sustainability by reducing energy consumption and generation of undesirable by-products.
Ronald Kay, B Eng (Geo), M.B.A., Director
Ronald Kay is a metallurgical engineer with 40 years experience in the financial industry. Mr. Kay holds an MBA degree from McGill University. Mr. Kay's positions in the industry include senior mining analyst as well as consultant to several major brokerage companies. He is the author of major reports on the uranium industry. Mr. Kay was the president of the general partner of six limited partnerships that raised more than $50 million for mining companies, including Aur Resources Inc., and the chairman of a general partner of a limited partnership that raised approximately $5 million for exploration and development for oil and gas companies.
Michael Pesner, CPA, CA, Director
Michael Pesner has been President of Hermitage Canada Finance Inc. since 2002, a firm specializing in financial advisory services. He was previously a senior partner in financial advisory services at KPMG LLP, Chartered Accountants, in Montreal, specializing in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring and corporate recovery in Canada. Mr. Pesner holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Administration from McGill University as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sir George Williams University. Mr. Pesner is also a Chartered Accountant, a licensed Trustee in Bankruptcy and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Professional. Mr. Pesner is a director of Richmont Mines Inc., a company listed on the TSX and NYSEamex, Mint Technology Corp, a company listed on the TSXV, Sand Technology Inc., a company listed on the OTCBB, and Bitumen Capital Inc., a capital pool company listed on the NEX.
Yves Beauchamp, Director
Yves Beauchamp is the Vice Principal, Administration and Finance, McGill University. Prior thereto, he was Full Professor of Industrial Engineering, École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). Dr. Beauchamp was also Vice-Rector responsible for the development of the new Outremont campus of Université de Montréal. He also held a variety of academic and management positions at the École de technologie supérieure in Montreal and at the Université de Québec à Trois-Rivières. Over the course of his career, Dr. Beauchamp has received numerous awards and acknowledgements, including the Knight of the National Order of Québec, the Médaille de l’Assemblée Nationale of the Government of Québec and a recognition from the Order of Engineers of Québec for outstanding achievement in research and teaching. He is a member of several professional associations and has been appointed to serve on numerous boards of directors. Dr. Beauchamp has also contributed to the development of his field through the publication of peer-reviewed articles, research reports published by the Québec Occupational Health and Safety Research Institute and other academic writings. Dr. Beauchamp holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and a Masters in Industrial Safety and Hygiene from Université de Québec à Trois-Rivières, as well as a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of West Virginia.
