Pierre Lortie, M.C., FCAE, Chairman of the Board
Pierre Lortie is a Senior Business Advisor at Denton. He is a Director of Element Financial Corporation, Group Canam Inc., and Lamêlée Iron Ore Ltd. Mr. Lortie served as President and COO of Bombardier Transportation, President and COO of Bombardier Capital, President and COO of Bombardier International, and President of Bombardier Aerospace, Regional Aircraft. He was Chairman, President and CEO of Provigo Inc., President and CEO of the Montreal Stock Exchange and a Senior Partner of Secor Inc. Mr. Lortie received an M.B.A. with honours from the University of Chicago, a license in applied economics from the Université Louvain in Belgium, and a Bachelor's degree in applied sciences (engineering physics) from Université Laval, Canada. He was awarded a Doctorate Honoris Causa in civil law from Bishop’s University. He was elected Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 1988 and he was appointed Member of the Order of Canada in 2001.
Mackenzie I. Watson, Honorary Chairman
Mackenzie I. Watson has over 45 years of exploration experience and has been involved in the discovery of numerous mineral deposits throughout in Canada. He was awarded Canada's Prospector of the Year Award in 1991 and 2009 and the Québec Prospector of the Year Award in 1992 for his participation in the discovery of numerous mineral deposits. His discoveries include the Icon Sullivan copper mine, the Ellison gold deposit, the Hébercourt copper deposit and the Pusticamica and Verneuil gold deposits in Québec. His team also discovered the Harker Holloway gold mine and recently, the Black Thor chromite deposit in Ontario.
Neil Wiener, B.C.L., LL.B., Corporate Secretary and Director
Neil Wiener is a partner in the Montreal office of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. He was called to the Québec Bar in 1981 after obtaining his B.C.L. and LL.B. degrees from McGill University in 1980. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1989. Mr. Wiener practices exclusively in the area of securities law, with emphasis on public financings. He has been involved in numerous public offerings, for both issuers and underwriters. Mr. Wiener has also been involved in private placements, take-over bids, going-private transactions, stock exchange listings and a broad range of other securities matters. Mr. Wiener was a lecturer in Business Law at McGill University from 1989 to 2000 and speaks frequently at conferences relating to corporate finance and securities matters.
Ronald Kay, B Eng (Geo), M.B.A., Director
Ronald Kay is a metallurgical engineer with 40 years experience in the financial industry. Mr. Kay holds an MBA degree from McGill University. Mr. Kay's positions in the industry include senior mining analyst as well as consultant to several major brokerage companies. He is the author of major reports on the uranium industry. Mr. Kay was the president of the general partner of six limited partnerships that raised more than $50 million for mining companies, including Aur Resources Inc., and the chairman of a general partner of a limited partnership that raised approximately $5 million for exploration and development for oil and gas companies.
Michael Pesner, CPA, CA, Director
Michael Pesner has been President of Hermitage Canada Finance Inc. since 2002, a firm specializing in financial advisory services. He was previously a senior partner in financial advisory services at KPMG LLP, Chartered Accountants, in Montreal, specializing in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring and corporate recovery in Canada. Mr. Pesner holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and Administration from McGill University as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sir George Williams University. Mr. Pesner is also a Chartered Accountant, a licensed Trustee in Bankruptcy and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Professional. Mr. Pesner is a director of Richmont Mines Inc., a company listed on the TSX and NYSEamex, Mint Technology Corp, a company listed on the TSXV, Sand Technology Inc., a company listed on the OTCBB, and Bitumen Capital Inc., a capital pool company listed on the NEX.
Yves Beauchamp, Director
Yves Beauchamp is the Vice-Rector responsible for the development of the new Outremont campus of Université de Montréal and Full Professor of Industrial Engineering, École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). Prior to that, Dr. Beauchamp held a variety of positions at the École de technologie supérieure in Montreal and at the Université de Québec à Trois-Rivières. Over the course of his career, Dr. Beauchamp has received numerous awards and acknowledgements, including the Knight of the National Order of Québec, the Médaille de l'Assemblée Nationale of the Government of Québec, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and a recognition from the Order of Engineers of Québec for outstanding achievement in research and teaching. He is a member of several professional associations and has been appointed to serve on numerous boards of directors. Dr. Beauchamp has also contributed to the development of his field through the publication of peer-reviewed articles, research reports published by the Québec Occupational Health and Safety Research Institute and other academic writings. Dr. Beauchamp holds a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and a Masters in Industrial Safety and Hygiene from Université de Québec à Trois-Rivières, as well as a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of West Virginia.
